The Angus Fund is a special fund in memory of Angus, beloved Akita of John & Judy from Sterling Place Tavern in North Buffalo and administered by Buffalo Humane, an all-volunteer New York State nonprofit animal rescue organization.

The purpose of The Angus Fund is two-fold:

(1) to have a dedicated fund set aside for homeless companion animals with special medical or behavioral treatment needs, so that Buffalo Humane may be in a position to take into its rescue operation those animals who otherwise would place an inordinate financial strain on its budget; and

(2) to assist area residents who are elderly, disabled, or have other special circumstances in providing veterinary care for a pet’s unforeseen medical problem, and whose financial circumstances would otherwise preclude the pet from receiving the necessary care. 

In the past The Angus Fund has paid for eye surgery for a dog, intensive care for a litter of kittens who were abandoned, bladder stone surgery for a wonderful Shih-tzu, and parvo treatment for a young GSD mix.

Our latest campaign was for a litter of 11 pups from Lockport.  Three of the pups were diagnosed with distemper.  Two didn't survive, but Valentino is now on the mend.  Distemper is a devastating disease with a high mortality rate.  At Buffalo Humane, we believe that every animal deserves a chance at life and DO NOT give up based on financial reasons.  We are currently doing preventive care to all of the litter and so far, these three are the only ones that seem to have become symptomatic.  Our committment to the animals is only due to your help and support.
