My personal message:

Thank you for visiting Annie's Angels Seacoast Medical Team's fundraising page!
Annie's Angels Seacoast Medical Team is located in Portsmouth, NH (a division of Damien House Inc.)

Dr. Thomas King, Dr. Philip Anderson & Dr. James Wilton are Portsmouth, NH physicians that head a 25 member volunteer support staff of nurses, surgical techs, and medical volunteers who travel each year to Ecuador to treat Hansen's patients.

Please help support our upcoming trip, the group is headed to Ecuador on MARCH 29, 2008!

Since our first overseas trip in 2000 to South America, our Seacoast Medical Team has embarked on 9 medical missions to Ecuador to care for the poorest of the poor, including infants with club foot deformities, children with limb deformities, and adults afflicted with leprosy and severe arthritic knee joint destruction.  People suffering from Leprosy, now called Hansen’s disease, are shunned by even their own families because of superstitious misunderstanding of the disease and its treatment.  These people have little or no access to medical care: care that if delivered early in the course of the infection can cure the disease and prevent the horrifying disfigurement that ensues.

Our mission is to care for these and other people in Ecuador who otherwise have no access to medical care. With our help, they can live productive, happy lives.  Our primary surgical mission is to perform peripheral nerve surgery
to restore sensation in hands, arms, legs and feet and also restore muscle power to paralyzed limbs.  Orthopedic surgery is also performed for Joint Replacement.
We return each year because, having seen the conditions there, every team member feels that there is no way they can stay away.

Our team of volunteers and doctors give freely of their time and effort.  This is not a vacation or sightseeing excursion, work days are 10+ hours per day in the operating rooms.  At the end of the typical week our medical team will perform on average over 200 surgical procedures.

For our upcoming trip, we have over 50 patients scheduled for multiple peripheral nerve surgeries and total knee joint replacement surgeries. We are therefore asking the New Hampshire community and anyone who can, to financially help our volunteer medical team proceed and complete this year’s surgical mission. All of the monies raised (100%) purchases medical supplies and helps to defray the travel expenses of the nurses and surgical techs.

Any financial help you might give us would be much appreciated.  All donations can be made to the tax deductible Damien House Foundation.
This volunteer medical work is a unique opportunity to make a huge, permanent difference in the lives of some very needy people.

Thank you for your support!
