Thank you for visiting my online fundraising page for Pups and Pucks, the Grand Rapids Griffins' 2nd Annual Fall Walk-a-thon, benefiting Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary.
For those of you who do not know about Pups and Pucks:
Grand Rapids Griffins players, coaches and front office staff will be walking rescued dogs from Mackenzie’s that are available for adoption in an effort to raise funds and awareness for Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary. We encourage and invite you and your friends and family to come walk along side us, with or without a dog to walk. Stick around for a BBQ dinner and live music after the walk and fun activities including: hay rides, petting zoo, pumpkin decorating, bake sale, silent auction and much more!We cannot believe what an amazing turnout we had at last year's inaugural walk; almost 350 people came to support Mackenzie's! And thanks to your generosity and support we were able to raise $15,000.00 for Mackenzie's!!! Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us last year and to all of you who donated to my online fundraising page.
This year I am raising my pledges for Mackenzie's in memory of Lady Casey, our German Shepard who just recently passed in August of Canine Lymphoma. Casey was only 6 years old when diagnosed and given 6 months to live. This terrible disease hit her so hard, she only made it two weeks. Loosing Casey has been especially hard on my dad, Rob, because he and Casey were so close. They did everything together. Fishing, car rides, he taught her every trick in the book and in sign language too. He even had her trained to take care of business in the woods and not the yard. Casey actually became so protective of "her" yard, she fought daily with chipmunks and squirrels to keep them out, and some days she even thought she could chase them up tree's (that was funny to watch). She was the best dog in the world and my whole family loved her and misses her dearly. She was the most playful, loving dog and I know she is in "doggie heaven" living on treats, chasing squirrels and watching over us.
My Dad walked with Casey at last's year's event and for the past two years he has managed donation boxes at his work in
Whitehall for Mackenzie's. I am so thankful for his (and Casey's) support of an organization that I feel so passionately about. That is why I am raising pledges and awareness for Mackenzie's in Lady Casey's name.
Thank you so much for helping us reach our goal. I look forward to seeing you on Monday October 12th, at our 2nd Annual Pups and Pucks.
