The Arc of Bergen and Passaic Counties, Inc. is a private not-for profit 501 ( c ) 3 organization dedicated to assisting individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities such as autism, epilepsy and cerebral palsy.

Started in 1947, by the parent of a child with disabilities, The Arc has grown into a multi service agency which today, offers a comprehensive array of programs and services for over 1,000 Bergen and Passaic County residents with disabilities and their families. The Arc is here for children and their families from the first diagnosis through the senior citizen years and all the stages in between.

The Arc is dedicated to ensuring that individuals with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as any other citizen. Direct services, family support and advocacy continue to be the cornerstones of The Arc’s work to build better lives for individuals with disabilities and their families.

With a reputation for providing the highest quality programs and supports, The Arc remains a leader in the field of developmental disabilities. The Arc is accredited by CARF, the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities with their top level accreditation. The Arc is licensed with full residential licenses by the State Divisions of Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health Services and has received a 100% rating from the Division of Developmental Disabilities in their Adult Training Quality review.

To provide enhanced opportunities for all citizens of Bergen and Passaic Counties with intellectual and other disabilities and their families through advocacy, community education, direct services, and customized supports to help these individuals attain and maintain fulfilled and independent status within their own communities and to initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of disability whenever possible.
