The 8th annual Autism Walk-a-thon was held on Sunday, April 18th at Oaks Park. The weather was beautiful, the entertainment was lively, the GFCF Food Sample was tasty and the Oak Park Rides were thrilling! 4,000 people came to participate in the walk and show their support of people living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Autism Society of Oregon (ASO) wants to thank everyone involved that made this event such a success! ASO raised about $70,000, the largest amount raised so far at the annual Autism Walk-a-thon!
These funds will help ASO sustain the many programs and projects on its plate, such as:
- Summer Camp scholarships already designated to the Kindtree Retreat and Adventures Without Limits, among others
- Continue to fund the statewide respite care program, Take a Break on ASO
- Help defray the costs of the Portland fall conference on issues adults face
- Support the 15 plus support groups hosted by ASO Chapters throughout the state
If you have established a fund raising page, you may continue to raise money on your page until July 18th. Help support the autism community in Oregon.
Thank you walkers, sponsors, volunteers, entertainers and all who supported the 8th annual Autism Walk-a-thon. See you next year!
