Bowl For Kids’ Sake (BFKS) is a “Campaign for Kids!” held across the nation by all Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies. In the greater Manchester area it is the largest fundraising event of the year. We rely on our community for volunteers and funding support. The money we raise from our annual BFKS event makes our program possible because we do not charge any fees for our services. You don’t need to be a great bowler to participate; you simply need to care about kids.

How to Participate:

  • The team of 5 bowlers is asked to raise at least $500, or a minimum $100 per bowler.
  • Contact Stephanie to register your team at 669-5365 ext. 201 or e-mail Stephanie@bbbsmanchester.org.
  • The team that raises the most money will receive a plaque. Can you beat last year’s winners who raised over $3,400?
  • There will be a friendly completion for the “Best Team Theme”. Each team will come up with a theme and the winners will receive a plaque as well as some great prizes. The “Best Team Theme” winners in 2011 were the Alley Cats who arrived dressed in character.

How do we use the money?  Every mentoring match costs an estimated $1,000 a year; however, we charge NOTHING for our services. We have over 100 children currently on the waiting list.  The money raised in fundraisers like Bowl for Kids’ Sake helps children like Beth who first came to Big Brothers Big Sisters with her mom who was diagnosed with terminal cancer.  Beth was quickly matched with a Big Sister and within a year her mom had passed away. Beth’s Big Sister Kim was able to be there for her through one of life’s most challenging times and still continues to be there.  Kim has been a part of filling the void since the loss of Beth’s mom, they engage in activities such as shopping, doing projects together and talking about growing up into a responsible woman.
