My personal message:

What is a Chain Off?

In one word...FREEDOM

Chain Off has been held annually around the 4th of July since 2003, highlighting the reality that while Americans are celebrating their own freedom, there are tens of thousands of Man's Best Friends in every state who are still not free: America's chained and penned dogs. These dogs are found in backyards  in countries around the world.

Chain Off has evolved from one woman chaining herself to a doghouse in 2003 for 33 hours, to 108 people chaining themselves in 36 states and Canada during last year's 2007 Chain Off to raise awareness for chained dogs.

We will be chaining ourselves in Redlands for at least 8 hours and up to 15 hours to help those in need of their freedom!  The date as of now is June 29 9am -9pm. If you want to join our team, please do... asap!  If you would like to donate,  do what you can  and remember every dollar counts!

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts. Or you can come visit us that day and donate then!

Many thanks for your support and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate or join too!

California Residents: Governor Schwarzenegger Signs Legislation to Outlaw Inhumane Dog Tethering

Governor Schwarzenegger announced the signing of SB 1578 by Senator Alan Lowenthal (D-Long Beach) that would prohibit dog owners from the cruel practice of tethering their pets to stationary objects for more than three hours.

SB 1578 outlaws the tethering of a dog for more than three hours. Tethering a dog will result in an infraction or misdemeanor, depending on the offense, punishable by a fine not to exceed $1,000 per dog and/or up to six months in a county jail.
