Maria Jasmilah and Ullysette Marx are two incredible kids from the Philippines. They are a big family of 9 (or 12 if you count their two cats and dog), who somehow manage to fit in a one bedroom home. They currently all sleep on the floor with mats, so the addition of a bunk bed would make a huge difference for this family. Their father is a daily worker, who pulls in around $100 a month on average.

Maria Jasmilah is an adorable 4 year old girl, who just started school this June. We have not heard how school is going yet, but do know she was very excited and anxious for it to begin. Her mother told us she is very observant, is always asking new questions, and is very curious about what is going on around her. Maria Jasmilah is very smart and knows how to write the letters in the alphabet, how to count, and communicates with others very well for her age. Her favorite color is red and she LOVES to sing. Her sister Jan told us her favorite song is called "Beautiful Girls."

Ullysette Marx is 11 years old and seems to really enjoy school. His favorite subjects are mathematics and computers. He wants to be an engineer someday. After this year he will have finished his schooling at elementary level (he is currently in grade 6).  He does very well in school, and was even president of his class last year. One thing Ullysette Marx always mentions in his letters is dancing. He is a part of a dance troupe at school, and considers dancing his most favorite hobby. He seems to look up to his eldest sister Jan, who also loves to dance. Some of his other hobbies include drawing and playing sports such as: basketball, football, and soccer.
