Welcome to the 2nd Annual Capital One Blazing Trails 4-Autism Run/Walk !!
This year's run was again inspired by three students at Eden II's Genesis Program who have excelled in their running abilities and continue to amaze us all!! On November 8, 2009 our celebration will be for all children and adults with autism, for their unique qualities, their unconditional love and our hope that they will enjoy a bright and promising future.
Last year at our Inaugural event we had over 800 runners and walkers, Channel 7 Eyewitness News coverage, a live band, great food and lots of media coverage. This year we expect over 1,000 runners and walkers and even more exciting amenities!!
Our goal is to increase awareness of autism on Long Island and raise funds to help children and adults with autism and their families. Autism is a complex neurobiological disorder that lasts throughtout a person's lifetime. Today, 1 in over 150 individuals is diagnosed with autism, making it more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes and AIDS combined.
The Eden II Programs offer hope to people with autism and their families by providing high quality, life-long support through services which enable people with autism to function better in everyday life.
