As most of you know, I am a team member of Bobby on a Bike 2008 and we are preparing to take on the biggest challenge of our lives.  We are leaving May 31st on a bicycle trek across the U.S. We will ride a total of 4,295 miles in 25 days; and to do this we will have two teams riding nearly 100 miles a day.  Our trip begins at the Coos Bay, Oregon Boardwalk and ends in Yorktown, Virginia on June 27th.

For those of you not familiar with Bobby on a Bike, here is our story.  Bobby on a Bike is a grassroots bicycling team dedicated to raising funds for charity.  Bobby on a bike was founded by a United Kingdom Constable named Neil Smith.  Since the formation of Bobby on a Bike in 2001, they have ridden from Canada to Mexico (1800 miles) two different times and donated nearly $60,000 to various charities.  I became involved in Bobby on a Bike when they came through Coos Bay in 2005.  An instant friendship was born and since then we assembled a group of Coos Bay Police Officers to cycle across the United Kingdom in 2006.  During our 2006 trip, the plans began for this latest challenge for Bobby on a Bike 2008.  Our current team is made up of 4 United Kingdom Contables, 2 United States Police Officers,  1 United States bicycle enthusiast and three wonderful support team members. For more information on our trip and to follow our daily updates during the ride visit our website at www.bobbyonabike.com

I have been committed to Special Olympics since the South Coast Torch Run began in 1992.  I have participated in most every run since then and raised thousands of dollars for this wonderful cause. This year I will not be able to participate in the torch run because of this bike ride and that is why I have chosen to ride for this cause.

I appreciate you helping me support Oregon Special Olympics.
