I am Coach Bobby Rentz of The Charleston Miracle League. I was fortunate enough to be a coach in the first game of The Charleston Miracle League held in Charleston, SC.  I never left!  The Charleston Miracle League is a baseball league that provides a place for children and adults with mental and physical challenges to play baseball.

Funding for this league comes from grants and donations from the public.  We are always trying to find ways to bring more resources into this league and one method is the Bridging the Gap Through Baseball campaign.  Our goal this year is to raise $50,000 and I need your help.

Here is my challenge.  I am going to walk in the Cooper River Bridge Run Kid's Walk with my son Jonathan. Jonathan plays in the CML and I coach him on the CML Braves.  He does not know about this fundraiser but he will be extremely excited once he finds out that he will help to continue to make The Charleston Miracle League a great outlet for the baseball players, families and volunteers.  My wife, Stacy, and other son, Robbie, will also participate in the walk.

What I would greatly appreciate from all of you, is to sponsor us in our effort to help one of Charleston’s greatest diamonds, The Charleston Miracle League, continue to grow.  There is no donation ever that is too small.  Every penny will help this continue to grow.

If financial support is not something you can do, then come out and help us during the games.  The spring season starts March 7, 2009 and we will play every Saturday for the next nine weeks EXCEPT the Saturday that the Cooper River Bridge Run will occur.  Here is a link to the website where you will find general information and the schedule:

Come and be a part of a rewarding experience.  Nothing will compare to seeing the smiles that are brought to the baseball players, families and volunteers.  Here is an interesting statistic.  Since the CML’s inception, around 8,000 runs have been scored by our baseball players and that is due to wonderful people who thinks it is important that all kids should be able to play baseball.  That is, people like yourself!
