EDUCATE STREET KIDS - Our volunteers work with professional Teachers, Social Workers and Psychologists to recruit street children who have never attended school or missed some years, are child labourers and could not pass the exam to enter the grade they belong in. If we can find their mothers (or not), we bring the children into our shanty schools where we teach them what they are lacking, feed, clothe and medicate them - and most of all give them lots of love. When they are ready they sit the entance exam to regular school, then we sponsor them, uniforms, school materials etc. for two years. Total cost to us per child: $500. MICRO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (for poorest women) - We locate the poorest women - often mothers of children in our shanty schools. We prepare them for one to three months: respect the clock, improve your hygiene, be a better mother, tell the truth, prove you are a worker. When we are convinced that their personal capital has been raised enough for us to invest in them personally, they prepare - with our help  a business plan for a micro enterprise. When all is ready we invest in them. They succeed and pay us back. Right now we have nearly a 100% success rate with them.  www.arribaya.com

DISASTER RELIEF - While volunteers are with us we instruct them in the basics required to participate on a relief team (should - god forbid - a disaster strike in the part of the world where the volunteer and our project are located) we go help the victims. . We hive over 4 decades experience in going to the rescue. The amount of good we can do depends on how many experienced rescuers we have on the team and how much money we have in our `Disaster Relief Fund´ - in 1985 we had enough man&woman power + funds to adopt  ninety thousand population city after the Mexico earthquake. Last year we could manage only two truckloads of relief supplies to the Ica earthquake in southern Peru. www.extremevolunteering.org
