Hi Everyone!

Thank you for stopping by my fundraising page for the American Heart Association. This association is near and dear to my own. heart. In June of 2008, I suffered a stroke which came as quite a shock since I was only 24 years old and had just months prior ran the Saint Louis Half Marathon.

A month after the stroke the doctors told me I had an infection on my heart known as Endocarditis. The only way to solve the problem was to go in for Open Heart Surgery. So exactly one month after my stroke, I had the surgery. Because of the severity of the infection, the doctors told me that the stroke had basically saved my life.

I have decided that I want to run the Saint Louis Half Marathon again but this time in support of the American Heart Association. I hope to raise awareness and promote health in all ages. Remember, that no matter what your age or your physical condition, you are always susceptible in illness.
