How do we live with a child with Autism, people ask. We enjoy the uniqueness and cheerish the happiness we see in his face. The disability is irrelevant, it's David we focus on because every child has ups and downs.
Living with a child with autism can be difficult, but I think it's really a very cool thing. David has taught us to look at the word in a whole new way, through HIS eyes. It can be SO much work to "connect" with him, and it can take so long, and it can be so brief. But when you get that moment where you both know that you're "together", it's just amazing.
To see him laugh, to see him smile, that's what it's all about. To know that even if I don't know what he's thinking, as long as he's happy, so are we.
