We are so grateful to everyone who has continued to support our family! Our "Bridge the Gap" fun run was a tremendous success and we sincerely want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting us!
It was in July that we first learned Bridgette was in kidney failure. A routine doctor's visit for what we thought could have been anemia turned into being told that Bridgette was in stage 5 kidney disease, meaning that she would have to begin dialysis. We travel to Albany three times per week so Bridgette can receive her treatment and learned early on how life changing this diagnosis would be. We have to watch everything from her fluid intake to her very restricted diet. Bridgette shows amazing strength through this whole process and we look forwad to a time when she can receive her kidney transplant, which we are hoping will take place soon. Her surgery to remove her kidneys was successful and after a few bumps we are happy to be home. As we continue on our journey to Bridgette's transplant, we are blessed to have the support of everyone around us. We are establishing this page to help us raise the necessary funds that will be needed for her 2 surgeries and for the medicine that she will need to take for the rest of her life which unfortunately 3 years post transplant will no longer be paid by our insurance company. Medications we were told that she will need to take so her body will not reject her new kidney will run between $6000 to $7000 a month. We are appreciative of any support you can give us.
