Textbooks for Zambia
Zambia is one of the poorest countries in the world, causing children in extreme poverty to face many challenges. A tremendous challenge is education. Just one classroom can contain as many as 65 students. These children strive to learn, but in overcrowded classrooms. The biggest challenge they face is the lack of resources. It is not uncommon for 10-15 students to share only one textbook.
9th grade students are required to take state tests to determine whether or not they can further their education in high school. Since students do not have their own textbook in the classroom, or a textbook to take home to study for these exams, there is an extremely high rate of failure, therefore eliminating any future opportunities for the students’ education.
Here is where YOU come in.
For just $9, you can purchase a Zambian textbook to be used within the classroom. You can choose which textbook you would like to purchase, knowing that this book will directly affect the students in the classroom. Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase a set of textbooks for each of the 8th and 9th grade classrooms in Samfya.
YOU can make a difference … one textbook at a time.
