Welcome to my fundraising page! This year I am dedicating my racing season to raising money for the Gastroparesis Patient Association for Cure and Treatments, Inc (G-PACT), a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the awareness of gastroparesis. Gastroparesis (GP) is a chronic digestive disorder that causes nausea, vomiting, pain, weight loss, and can result in severe malnutrition. There are very few treatment options for GP, and some patients come to rely on tube feeding in order to live. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis in February 2008 and since then I have had to pay extremely close attention to my diet to avoid losing weight and ensure I get the proper nutrition. Like all chronic illness my symptoms wax and wane, but I've learned that the old saying "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" is true.
This spring I raised $560 for G-PACT in conjuction with training for the Lincoln Half Marathon. I finished the race in a time of 1:46:31, beating my prior personal record for the distance by over 23 minutes! Now I'm training for my second triathlon and I'm looking to reach a total of $750 for the year by the time I cross the finish line on July 26th. Please take the time to make a donation and help me reach my goal. And remember, when you dontate you are not only helping me reach my goal, you are helping thousands of other patients with GP!
