Building Blocks is a crucial program and needs your help. I am in the unique position of experiencing this wonderful program from both the perspective of a recipient of the wonderful services and now the Program Director, now able to offer the services that changed my life - not to mention the life of my daughter! Nicole was served on the very first day the program began with a wonderfu therapist Laura Turley and Dr. Karen Levine! I am lucky enough now to call both colleagues but more importantly, friends! Karen still offers families served thru the program, her unbelievable experience, knowledge and clinical consultation (not to mention her national reputation).
There were 12 children in the program when Nicole started. We now see roughly 200 children a month. There were 5 providers when the program began - there are now over 54! We celebrated our 10 year anniversary this past March.
One thing hasn't changed - the dedication of our unbelievable staff to improve the lives of not only the children we serve, but their entire family.
Nicole would not be the child she is today (almost adolescent at 12) without the early and intensive services she received from Building Blocks. We also benefitted from many other programs of North Shore Arc - respite, advocacy, recreation, and of course the Autism Support Center .
Please consider sponsoring our Building Blocks team - and joining us for this fun, family friendly event. I am lucky enough to have family and friends that have supported me thru every step of the long road of raising a child with autism. I could not have done it without them - even with them it has not been easy. I understand the struggle first hand but also understand the joy and pride felt with each accomplishment our child makes - with the help of programs offered through the North Shore Arc.
