Hey Everyone - Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! In a moment of sheer insanity, I signed up to run the Chicago Marathon this year on October 12th. I've set up this fundraising page to help raise money for the Scleroderma Foundation and give me extra incentive as I train for the marathon.
Scleroderma is a is a chronic connective tissue disease generally classified as one of the autoimmune rheumatic diseases. There are currently approximately 300,000 people in the United States living with this disease. Both my uncle and my Best Friend's Mom have recently been diagnosed with Scleroderma and are bravely fighting this disease every day.
The Scleroderma Foundation provides support and education to Scleroderma patients and promotes awareness to the media and the general public about this disease. However, the primary function of the foundation is to fund research for Scleroderma which currenly has no cure. As the leading nonprofit supporter of scleroderma research, the Foundation allots more than $1 million annually to find the cause of and cure for scleroderma. Since 1989, nearly $12 million in research funds has been allotted. Hopefully, with your help, I can raise enough money to aide this great organization with all that they do to help Scleroderma patients and their families.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts for the marathon. With your help, hopefully I can meet my goal of raising $5,000 for the Scleroderma Foundation. Many thanks for your support -- and please feel free to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
