My personal message:

Thank you for visiting the California Opera Association’s young artists’ fundraising page. With your help, we are hoping to provide 10 young, committed, hopeful artists with up to $1500 in stage training experience during the summer of 2009.  You can learn more about these programs at www.calopera.org

Donating on these young artists behalf  through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our young artists’ fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support and please don’t forget to forward this to anyone you think may want to donate too!

Now approaching its 10th season, the California Opera Festival has earned a reputation for its dedication to young artists, fascination with contemporary effort, enthusiasm for providing unusual performance opportunities to recognized masters in their fields, and commitment to all the opera arts.

The Young Artists Program is distinguished from many other training programs in the variety and quality of the opportunities it provides participants. One focus of the Program is on education through performance. Young Artists receive opportunities to perform and cover appropriate roles in mainstage productions and to work with world-class directors, designers and conductors. In the course of the summer many Young Artists are selected to present solo recitals.

In addition to rehearsing and performing, Young Artists receive musical coaching, attend classes in diction and acting, and are given instruction in such skills as audition techniques, repertoire and role preparation and the business aspects of managing a career. Administrators from many of the world's leading opera houses visit California Opera productions and programs to hear the performances, and artists may be offered roles or representation as a result of their appearances.

A part of the mission of the California Opera Association is to provide these outstanding young singers a venue for development, experience and progress toward their dreams and goals. Each year, opera and scholarship donors like you help with the expenses of such a worthwhile program so that young artists can thrive without the limitations of educational expenses, and professional artists can gain the tools that they need to excel in a career in the performance field to better entertain you!

Opera is the grandest art of them all - combining singers and musicians, dancers and actors with sets, costumes, props and special effects to tell stories in a way that no other art form can match.  This also makes it one of the most expensive art forms to produce and learn. The California Opera mission is to bring the art form to the community in ways that are accessible and affordable, often even free.  We rely on the community, and individuals like you to bring opera to the stage and into the lives of these young artists to fulfill our mission.

Please don’t forget to forward this to anyone you think may want to donate too!
To continue these programs, our young artists are an integral part of fundraising efforts. Your tax-deductible donation will be acknowledged in written programs and through recognition on our websites and publicized events involving the young artists you may choose to sponsor.

Some of the outcomes for the futures of the Young Artists who have participated in COA programs include: grand prize awards in some of the most prestigious vocal competitions to continue study and scholarship, collegiate level honors study at the world's most revered music conservatories, lead role stage opportunities in opera houses of the US, Europe, Asia, and in Las Vegas’ Phantom of the Opera and in New York City productions, professional careers in music therapy and ministry, music leadership roles serving in the US armed forces and dissemination of their talents and knowledge to help other young artists at the beginning of their careers.

Please Help to educate, enlighten, enrich and entertain through live opera performances and education programs of uncompromised quality.  Thank You for your support in providing the most affordable opera productions and educational experiences to the broadest possible audience, including these young artists. Thank You for your role in fostering the appreciation, study and understanding of opera as a significant cultural force.
