Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! My name is Elliott Rosenthal and I am running a campaign to raise money for the San Antonio Food Bank. I am currently a senior in high school, and recently discovered that hunger is a serious problem in our community.
My campaign, called "Can You Give Me Five?" has a goal of raising $5,000 for the San Antonio Food Bank. Five Thousand dollars may not seem like it would make a dent in the hunger issue, but according to the Food Bank, every dollar donated can be used to purchase $13 worth of nutrional food. Imagine, by donating five dollars towards my goal, we would be able to provide the hungry in our community with $65,000 worth of healthy food.
Here are some facts about hunger that opened my eyes, and will do the same for you:
Last year, 27 million people used a Food Bank for emergency food assistance.
Food insecurity means that you are so limited in resources that you are running out of food, provide unbalanced meals, or have to skip meals so that your children can eat. Sadly, Texas is the MOST food insecure state in our nation.
In Bexar County, 1 in 4 children suffer from food insecurity.
$25 donated to the food bank can provide 175 meals.
According to the USDA, more than 38 million Americans can't afford to buy food. Of those 38 million, nearly 14 million are children.
As you can see, hunger is no small problem in the United States. Every day, kids go to school hungry. If I had to go to school hungry, I wouldn't learn, because I would only be able to think about food. Thankfully, all it takes to help make a difference is $5. I hope to raise the money by my graduation in June 2008. Please help this life-saving cause.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
