The Rhino Charge is an event where participants and spectators come together to support the Rhino Ark. It is a race and a high adventure 4WD competition representing one of the toughest off-road challenges in the world. The objective is to complete 13 check points in the shortest distance within a 10 hour time limit. It is about determination, commitment, team-building and friendship.
The 2008 Rhino Charge raised an unprecedented $1 million US dollars – and our team alone raised $30,000 – 2 million Kenyan shillings.
The all girls team, Car 17, is competing again on 31st May 2009. We are doing this because we believe in conserving the unique Aberdare mountain range. It is home to numerous endangered species including rhino, elephant and bongo and is a crucial water shed and catchment area supporting millions of people and industry.
The bottom line is: the conservation value of this effort is enormous.
