Dear Friends!!! As always around this time of year we start contacting both our old friends and hopefully some new friends to help us achieve our fund raising goal for the Rhino Ark. We are of course also looking to do well in the event itself which is still one of the most exiting sporting events around. For those of you who are new to this, we try to get out 4x4 car around a 13 checkpoint course in the shortest possible distance. By course we don't mean a very specific track which everyone follows. The only things which are predetermined are the 13 checkpoints, how each car gets there and in which order is up to them self which is what makes it exiting. It also means that we end up crossing impossible obstacles rather than going round them. Last year we came 8th and this year we hope to do better. There is more information about the team at www.car64.com Rhino Ark is continuing its great support of the Aberdares where over the last many years they have erected one of the worlds largest eco-fences. The fence is electrified and its security and maintenance program needs support as well as finishing the last few kilometers. This is a great project which both benefits animals and people. It allows small time farmers to grow their crops in peace without worrying about Elephant and Buffalo destroying them which in turn keeps the animals safe. The fence also stops illegal logging which keeps one of the most important catchment areas in Kenya safe.
