I currently serve Ministry Director of Eternity Minded Ministries. EMM is a Non-Profit organization dedicated to helping people in third world countries through humanitarian aid, human development, and Christian spiritual development activities. It has been a priviledge for me to serve on this board and to be a part of the powerful ways they have helped people in India, Africa, South America, and Eastern Europe over the past ten years.

Eternity Minded Ministries is currently working on a project in the town of Rwamagana, Rwanda. As you may have heard Rwanda was raveged by a terrible genocide in 1994. During a period of less than 3 months over 800,000 people were slaughtered there. This tragic mass murder was brought about by one tribe against another. Since that time the Rwandan people have been struggling to overcome the hatred and bitterness that was the result of that tragic event. Today the Rwandan government is fostering a culture of forgiveness and restoration throughout the country. They are encouraging those who committed those brutal acts to come forward and admit their crimes and to seek the forgiveness from the families of those they killed. As you can imagine this is a very difficult process for all.

The genocide equally affected the church in Rwanda as well. There are recorded cases of members of a church killing other members of the same church during those dark days in 1994. There are other cases where members of one church killed those of another church. It was indeed a dark chapter not only in the history of Rwanda but in the history of the church in Rwanda.

Eternity Minded Ministries has been invited to come to Rwanda by the many different churches in the town of Rwamagana to help them to  reconcile to each other as Christian brothers and sisters. They have asked that we come and partner with them to hold a city wide Festival of reconciliation and renewal. So many of them want to go out and tell their city about Jesus but they recognize that they need to first come together for a time of healing, forgiveness, restoration and renewal.

In addition the Festival of Restoration EMM will also seek to provide badly needed humanitarian assistance to those living in Rwamagana through 2 activities. The first is to provide Medical Care Insurance to families in Rwamagana. The government of Rwanda has a medical insurance program that the average family can participate in for only about $14 per year. It provides all of the basic medical care each member of a family will need for a year. The second activity is to provide reading glasses to as many people as possible. There are many people who's near eyesight is so bad  that they cannot read and in many cases they cannot see to do simple activities like sewing and cooking. We will bring eye glasses clinics to Rwamagana and the surrounding villages to provide these eye glasses to as many people as possible. The cost to provide the examination and the eyeglasses to those that need them is about $4.00 each

We want to help as many families in Rwmagana as possible and we are hoping to raise a minimum of $10,000 to use in providing the medical insurance and the eye glasses program.
