Carolina Canines for Service is dedicated to empowering people with disabilities to achieve grater independence through the services of quality trained service dogs. A service dog is individually trained to perform tasks for the benefit of a person with a physical disability other than blindness. It takes up to three years to train a service dog, and once fully trained, each dog, now valued at over $40,000, is placed with a recipient at NO COST!
Carolina Canines for Service was founded on December 1, 1996 in Wilmington, NC. We have changed the lives of people with disabilities with the placement of 37 service dogs, have provided countless hours of visitations by our Carolina Canines for Therapy teams, all to create a better community where we live. We rely on volunteer service, individual donor contributions and grants from various charitable foundations.
