Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page benefiting the Scleroderma Foundation - Texas Bluebonnet Chapter's "Stepping Out To Cure Scleroderma Walk-DFW". Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts.
My History
I was diagnosed with Scleroderma (an autoimmune disease that translates "tightening of the skin") and arthritis about six years ago. For roughly five years, my Scleroderma remained stable, and I was able to live a normal life. Then, on April 19th, 2007, I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs). I always knew that the Scleroderma had the potenial to effect my internal organs, but, like any one else, I didn't think it would happen to me! Needless to say, as my doctors put it, with my Scleroderma and PH, I'm one in a million! Actually, about 1-2 people per million have PH, but who's counting?
My Current Health
As a PH patient, I'm on my third drug to try to combat the progression of the disease. My main goal is to get my breathing back to normal. And, as a Scleroderma patient, my main goal is to help educate my fellow support group members and the general public about PH, a disease that is sometimes secondary to Scleroderma.
How You Can Help
Raising money for the Scleroderma Foundation is near and dear to my heart. I am fortunate enough to belong to an awesome Scleroderma support group that meets once a month to discuss support, education, and current research. With the help of donations, I hope to give back to the Scleroderma Foundation which offers so much hope to me and my fellow group members.
What's Going on Now I am excited to announce our 1st ever Texas Bluebonnet Chapter "Stepping Out To Cure Scleroderma" DFW walk located inside the Grapevine Mills Mall on June 28th. The Dallas Support Group has joined forces with the Tarrant County Support Group to ensure that our first walk is the best Texas has ever had.
Please help me make our first ever "Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma" DFW Walk a HUGE success. Also, if you'd like to join me in walking, let me know! Thanks for your support!
