Garden Bowl 2013

Garden Bowl 2013

Help Capital District Community Gardens and Have Fun Too!

It's easy! You don't have to be a great bowler - or even a good bowler - to help Capital District Community Gardens (CDCG) nourish healthy communities through our gardening and healthy food programs.

Get a group of four or five friends, family members, co-workers or fellow community gardeners to bowl on a team with you - or register as an individual and let CDCG place you with a team.

Register online today, and create your own personal fundraising page that you can share with friends and family members via email, Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter.

The funds you raise will support our programs, including:

  • Community Gardens - More than 4,000 gardeners raise their own organic produce in CDCG's 48 community gardens, located throughout Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady counties. Community gardens make neighborhoods greener and help gardeners and their friends and families include fresh produce in their diets.
  • The Veggie Mobile - This "produce aisle on wheels" makes weekly stops at housing projects, senior centers, and schools, bringing healthy fruits and vegetables to neighborhoods that lack easy access to conventional supermarkets.
  • Healthy Convenience Store Intiative - The Veggie Mobile can only come once a week, but CDCG's Healthy Convenience Store Initiative is bringing fresh produce to the corner stores where inner-city residents shop everyday.
  • The Produce Project - At-risk teens learn skills for career and life as they work a year-round urban farm, and market their harvest to chefs and at farmer's markets.
  • Street Tree Planting - CDCG has planted thousands of trees in urban areas throughout the Capital Region, greening neighborhoods, improving air quality, and raising property values.
  • Taste Good Series - Games, music, books and tastings teach inner-city students in grades PreK-2 that healthy fruits and vegetables can be delicious too!
  • Squash Hunger - CDCG collects tons of donated and gleaned fresh produce from farms, gardeners and shoppers, and distributes it to shelters and food pantries throughout the Capital Region.

Raise Money for CDCG and Win Great Prizes... The more you raise - the better the prize!
