C.E.R.T.S., Inc., was founded by a group of parents, professionals, educators, legislators, community members and agency representatives committed to providing a research-based, quality program for young adults with multiple, severe disabilities. The Adult Action Center was created to focus on providing life-enriching experiences and encouraging the highest level of independence possible.

The Adult Action Center has been in operation for four and a half years. We currently have 20 participants and are expecting a new participant very soon. 

In October, 2009, just three years after opening, the Adult Action Center became a MOVE (Mobility Opportunities Via Experience) for Adults Model Site. We are only the third adult site worldwide. This is quite an honor and required a lot of hard work by our staff and our participants. Some of our participants had never been upright with their feet on the floor until being given that opportunity using a Pacer at the Center. Several participants are now able to propel themselves in their Pacers!

This year, we will be moving to a larger site to accommodate the new participants we anticipate enrolling this summer/fall. Of course, with the larger site, our expenses will increase. We will also have expenses related to the move itself. For this reason we are hoping to raise $15,000 through the race this year.
