This year, for our annual Martin Luther King Day celebration, One World One Family of Chelsea has exciting plans to focus on "the arts" as a way of celebrating Dr. King's principles. We are tapping into the rich talent that Chelsea is becoming known for. We will be including an essay and poetry contest, an art contest, events in dance and music, a theater production, and a unique “artistic” way to conduct a food drive. Of course we will have a peace march and a keynote speaker.
As the keynote speaker, we are proud to feature Detroit native Gilda Snowden, a prominent exhibiting artist at the Detroit Institute of Arts. She is highlighted in the book The Flat Footed Truths, and we will also have discussion groups about this book.
All of these events and programs require funding. Can you help us make these community programs available? Because of the activity around this year’s elections, we will not be hosting our traditional Have-a-Bowl fundraising dinner so we are heavily relying on your generosity now.
As a special incentive for contributing, for every donation of $20 or more, we will send you a free OWOF "Coexist" bumper sticker – while supplies last. This version is a Chelsea original!
One World One Family of Chelsea is made up of 100% volunteers with no overhead. 100% of any contribution goes to programs.
OWOF Mission: Our mission is to celebrate the diversity of our human family while promoting understanding of the world’s different cultures through activities and education events. We will work to foster anti-discriminatory attitudes and practices in the Chelsea-area community.
Thank you for visiting the OWOF fundraising page! Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- any amount will help!
