Event time:
Packet pickup is from 7:30 – 8:45 a.m. at the park
Both 5K and 10k start at 9 a.m.
Free kids’ (ages 3-10) fun run following the race
Event cost:
• $18 for pregnant mothers and/or mothers of children under 3 years old registered
before June 15
• $20 for all others registered before June 15
• $25 for all race-day registrations
*Kids’ (ages 3-10) fun run: free, no registration required.
Racers registered before June 15 will receive post-race refreshments, tech shirts and goody bags. Race-day registrations not guaranteed tech shirts or goody bags.
Course:
5k: The 5k race is open to both walkers and runners. The route is flat and fast, traveling through forests, open fields and along the Willamette River on a mostly-paved path with a few yards of bark trail.
10k: The 10k race is open to runners and speed-walkers. The route is flat and fast, traveling through beautiful forests and open fields and meadows on a mostly-paved path with a few yards of bark trail.
Event prizes and awards:
Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top finishers (male and female) in the following age categories: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over. Prizes will also go to top individual fundraisers and “fastest mothers” (pregnant mothers and/or mothers of children ages 3 and under).
Funds will go towards: Compassion’s Child Survival Program
All proceeds from this event will be given to Compassion International’s Child Survival Program (CSP). The Child Survival Program helps save the lives of babies and mothers in poverty utilizing local churches to assist mothers of at-risk infants and toddlers. Mothers can give their children a fighting chance for healthy development with the supplies and training provided by your donations. Run for Compassion Salem’s proceeds will supply:
•Prenatal care
•Nutritious food and supplements
•Ongoing health care and vaccinations
•Infant survival training for mothers
•Spiritual nurturing and a place in the local faith community
•Education & income-generating opportunities
