The La Crosse Chileda Classic  5k, 10k, and kid's fun run, is the largest fundraising event of the year for the Chileda Institute. The event began in 1980 and provides a fast, flat course great for the experienced runner, fun for families and corporate teams. The event hosts nearly 1500 participants yearly and thousands of spectators along the route.

The annual event is held in conjunction with La Crosse's annual Riverfest. Participants enjoy refreshments, entertainment, and a pancake breakfast after the event. Cash prizes are awarded for overall finishers in the 5k & 10k races and medals for top three finishers in each age division. Prizes are awarded for top pledge getters along with pledge amounts raised starting at $50.

The kid's race has become a tradition to wrap up the morning. The route is the 1/4 mile loop around Riverside park ending with ribbons, ice cream, and other treats!

Race proceeds go directly to Chileda an organization which serves children and young adults ages 6-21 who typically have identified cognative challenges and interfering behaviors. Chileda provides residential services  for children from across the country, day school for students who live in local communities, after school and respite services for area families, training opportunities, and so much more.
