Thank you for visiting our personal fundraising page which benefits the Scleroderma Foundation - Texas Bluebonnet Chapter's "Stepping Out To Cure Scleroderma " Walk - 2009.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to help my fundraising efforts.
History:
I was diagnosed with scleroderma 8 years ago. My journey for knowledge led me to a local support group in the Dallas area. 5 years ago I became a support group leader and in January of 2009 was elected for a 2nd term as President of the Texas Bluebonnet Chapter representing the state of Texas for the Scleroderma Foundation. Last July, I was presented with a national award as Chapter Volunteer of the Year at our National Conference in Los Angeles.
My goal as President has been to bring the threefold mission of Support, Education, and Research to the entire state of Texas. As a result we have had patient educational forums in Dallas/Ft. Worth, El Paso, San Antonio, Lubbock, Corpus Christi, and most recently Midland/Odessa. Our next chapter meeting will be in Temple. We have held medical workshops in Houston, Austin, and Irving. This year our medical workshop will take us to San Antonio. We have also opened a number of new support groups around Texas benefiting patients and caregivers alike, most recently in Paris (Texas).
Healthwise
Presently, my scleroderma health is stable. I do have interstitial lung damage and suffer from rheumatoid arthritis. Fatigue is a factor as well. But you know me---
I keep going like the energizer bunny intent on the SF mission & vision!
What's Going On Now:
I am excited to announce our 2nd Annual Texas Bluebonnet Chapter "Stepping Out To Cure Scleroderma" walk located inside the Collin Creek Mall in Plano, TX on June 27th. Because of supporters like you, last year's walk was a tremendous success. Please join us at the walk to support our patients, raise pledges, and personally meet some of the members that your contributions help.
This year our board of directors have voted to donate up to 10% of all monies raised during our walks towards restricted research.
Remember, as we raise funds we also raise AWARENESS.
