Invites you to join us in celebrating our 30th year & our Third Annual

~ Walk to Remember ~

   Saturday, May 12, 2012

10:00-2:00pm

 
Come walk with us around the beautiful Lake Merritt to honor and celebrate those people in our lives who are living with life threatening illness,
as well as remember those we have loved and lost. 
 
All ages and abilities are invited to participate in this event!
 Funds generated from your walk will directly support Circle of Care services to children and families coping with terminal illness and bereavement.
   
It is easy to register, and you are welcome to complete the event by walking, running, biking, skipping - any way that works for you! 
Through this site, you can create a personalized memorial web page in honor of or memory of your loved one, and invite your friends and family to support your walk. 
 
You can also join an existing team of walkers (browse the list of supporters), or if you are unable to attend the walk you can create your page and a Circle of Care volunteer will complete the walk for you.  Some may choose to create a personalized page symbolizing your unique connection to Circle of Care (program participant, volunteer, supporter of the services).
         
Register and start spreading the word today! We look forward to sharing this special day of remembrance and celebration together this Spring.
 

We will be meeting promptly at 10:00am at the Lakeside Park
Entrance at Grand Avenue & Bellevue Avenue (see below for more detailed directions.  Area is located directly behind Children's Fairy Land next to the Bandstand Area.   Look for the purple shirts!!

 

The check-in booth will be open from 10-2 so that if you happen to miss walking with the group you can still come and get checked in and walk on your own.

The Directions below are for how to get to Fairy Land, and will get you right to the parking location.  Parking is $5.00 all day, and there is street parking on side streets without meters, but you might have to search for them

 
From 580 east:
Take the Harrison Street exit in Oakland and turn right onto Harrison. Turn left at Grand Avenue. Fairyland is one block away, at the intersection of Grand and Bellevue. Turn to the right and park.
I’m starting from…
Hayward, San Leandro, and Pleasanton: Take 580 west to the MacArthur/Harrison exit in Oakland. Turn left on Harrison and left on Grand Avenue. Fairyland is one block away on the right, at the intersection of Grand and Bellevue. Turn to the right and park.
 
Transit Directions
On BART: Get off at the 19th Street station. Take the 20th Street stairway to street level. Walk on 20th Street to Harrison Street. Turn left on Harrison. Turn right on Grand Avenue. Fairyland is one block away, at the intersection of Grand and Bellevue (right side).

On AC Transit: Take the #12 bus from the 19th Street BART station to Children’s Fairyland.

Check-in begins promptly at 10 am
10:30 program begins followed by sharing from previous CofC participants. 

11:00 Group stretch & start walk toward Lake Shore

12:30 Gather back at starting point to picnic together.
