Thanks for visiting our fundraising page!  We are raising funds for two charities – Habitat for Humanity International and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  You can make donations to Habitat for Humanity on this webpage.  If you would like to donate to the Breast cancer Research Foundation instead, click here.

Call us crazy for riding to the east coast and back, but don’t let it be all for nothing!  With your help, we aim to raise a total of $6,000.  This amount equates to approximately 30 cents per mile for each rider; can we do it?  I think so!

Since its creation in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has built over 300,000 homes, providing more than 1.5 million people with safe, decent, affordable shelter.  As little as $800 can build a home in developing countries.  For example, if we meet our goal, over three homes could be constructed overseas! (last year 84.9% of organizational contributions went directly to homebuilding expenditures).  Now more than ever, families all around the globe are in need of affordable shelter.

Having worked with the local Habitat chapter, we can tell you that these are some fantastic people accomplishing some great feats.  Habitat is hand-up, not a hand out program.  Homeowners make a down payment and monthly mortgage payments that cover the cost of construction materials and go towards building more Habitat houses.  Also, owners must invest hundreds of hours of their own labor (sweat equity) into their Habitat house and the houses of others.  We hope that you find Habitat a cause worthy of consideration.
