23/09/08 - This is a very BIG thank-you to Lee Morris & family and their donation is the last to this page. Lee's father sadly passed away recently and Lee asked for money to be paid to this charity page instead of flowers being bought for the funeral, and a collection was also made at his local pub.
It is at times like this that reinforces your belief in the goodness of people.
Rest in peace Ron !!

21/07/08 - Well we did it...155 miles to be exact and we have pains in places that I never knew existed. We cycled up 22 pretty steep hills on the Saturday in the Lake district which was excruiating in itself. We also saw some of England's most beautiful scenery, which was breathtaking, and made the pain bearable.
When we saw the sign for Rufford, with one mile to go, the relief was palpable.
Thank you to everyone who sponsored me, and you can still sponsor me on the site even after the event. Well done to Steve and Adam Carpenter ( my brother in law and nephew and two of my "co-ridees" )who helped raise money on this site. Also a big well done to Steve and Paul Crompton my 2 other mates on the journey, whose company was enjoyable and encouraging .

Thank you for visiting my fund raising page! Please dig deep and sponsor me online
My daughter Lucy (age 10, pictured left) was diagnosed at 9 months with a lifelong illness called "Dravet Syndrome". It is the most extreme form of uncontrollable epilepsy and is caused by a genetic disorder. In addition, she has severe developmental delay which is irreversible. Unfortunately 15% of children with Dravet syndrome die before the age of 16, so research into the cure for this horrible illness is vital.
I also hope to raise awareness for this rare syndrome so I have decided to get off my backside and raise some money for the " IDEA League" ( International Dravet- Syndrome Epilepsy Action League ). This is an American based charity searching for a cure . As it is USA based any money you donate in the UK will benefit from additional tax breaks in America, but the research helps all children worldwide. For further details on the Dravets syndrome and the IDEA League click on the following link

I shall be cycling with my brother in law Steve Carpenter, his son Adam Carpenter and 2 friends Steve and Paul Crompton. We shall be huffing and puffing our way from Penrith in the Lake district to just north of Liverpool. This is a total of 154 miles. We will be cycling over 3 days, the 18th,19th and 20th of July. One benefit of the training done to date is that I have lost all of my 'Love handles' !
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fund raising efforts.
Unfortunately only credit card payments are accepted with this USA based charity. So those people without credit cards could pay someone with a credit card, and they in turn could make a payment on their behalf.
Please don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Many thanks for your support.
Colum Mc Nabb
Please also note that your donation will be taken from your account at the exchange rate on that day. For example if you donate $10, and the exchange rate is $2 = £1, then your account will be debited with £5. This is the only way I was able to set up this site.
