"You can't understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes."

Walk With Us!

Cornerstone, alongside men in our community, believe that men must be a part of the solution to ending violence against women and children.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes asks men to walk in women's high-heeled shoes to raise awareness in a unique and entertaining way. We invite men, women, and children to participate and will loan men a pair of high-heels at no charge.

Cornerstone is committed to creating a society in which violence in families no longer exists. The use of violence is a choice; domestic violence is a crime. All community members have a responsibility to confront the roots of violence and eliminate oppression.

Cornerstone's mission is to prevent domestic abuse.
We provide children and adults a continuum of service that builds sustainable self-reliance and revives the human spirit.
We educate, advocate, and lead the way to social change.

Cornerstone was founded in 1983 and purposefully took a new approach to serving individuals and families that have experienced domestic abuse and violence in their relationships. They embarked on a mission to engage community partners from law enforcement, healthcare, education, elected officials, and the faith community. What followed was a series of program innovations that led to the full continuum of services that we now offer. In 2009, Cornerstone impacted the lives of 27,132 individuals. We offer supportive services that allow victims to create emotional and financial stability, we treat children as primary victims with complicated needs, we counsel the victim's family system, whomever that may consist of, and we connect with the entire community.
