I set up this page for Ellie Kate Mclaughlin.   She is the daughter of one of my very best friends Michael Mclaughlin and his wife Ryan Mclaughlin.

Ellie Kate McLaughlin was born on December 4th, 2005 in Oklahoma City.  By the looks of things, Ellie Kate was a beautiful, healthy baby.  But family and doctors would soon find out that something was desperately wrong.  By the end of her first week, Ellie Kate was fighting for her life, and she continues to do so to this day.  Ellie Kate suffers from the rare genetic disease, Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia.

As with any medical problem, there is alot of cost involved with physical therapy, equipment, medicines, and lots of doctors visits.  Running is a true passion for me and I wanted to do something with it.  With all of the 5Ks, 10Ks, Triathlons, etc. I have done over the years, I have yet to do a marathon, but as with any runner, I have always wanted to qualify for and run Boston.  My goal was to run my first marathon in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on April 27th, 2008, raise money for a good cause while training, and hopefully qualify for Boston my first time.  Unfortunately, I've had a leg injury that put me behind on my training but I will still be doing the half marathon on that day(13.1 miles).  My goal is to run under 1 hour and 30 minutes.
