Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a fun way for men to show their support in the fight to end sexual violence. Men collect pledges then walk one mile in women's high heel shoes. Join the fight to end sexual assault in our community! Put a team together, get your fraternity involved, challenge your co-workers, civic organizations, friends and family.
All donations support the Center for Sexual Assault Survivors, a non profit rape crisis center. The Center is the only rape crisis center serving the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson and Smithfield and the counties of York and Isle of Wight. We provide individual counseling, support groups, 24 hour crisis line, hospital/legal companionship, awareness events and professional training AT NO COST. Donations help pay rent, utilities, computer repairs, supplies for childrens' art therapy, education supplies, clothing for victims, hotline costs and education materials for parents.
Help us keep our services free to survivors of sexual assault. During fiscal year 2012, the Center provided services to 366 men, women and children who had experienced sexual violence. Over half of our clients are children under the age of 12.
Walk a Mile 2012 raised $12,687. Help us surpass that!
