All Cushing Elementary students will have the opportunity to participate in the Cushing PTO Walkathon on Tuesday, October 9, regardless of how much money they raise or donate. We have two goals: to have 100% student participation and to raise $18,000 this year! The Walkathon will be held during the school day. Students will be bused with their grade from Cushing Elementary School to Lapham Peak State Park for an age-appropriate walk through the scenic park. After their walk, students will be returned to school. Students should wear sturdy walking shoes and dress for the weather. The rain date is set for Wednesday, October 10.
Parents or family members who are interested in volunteering during or prior to the walk should email cushingwalkathon@gmail.com. You will need to have a volunteer application on file at school to participate.
The Walkathon is Cushing’s primary fundraiser for the year. The funds raised by the PTO directly benefit our school, our teachers, and our children. Funds raised from this year's Walkathon will be used to enhance our playground by adding a new playground structure, grow our library through the addition of non-fiction book selections, and fund an Artist in Residence.
SETTING UP PERSONAL FUNDRAISING PAGES IS AS EASY AS 1.2.3 (and will take less than 10 mins!)
1. Click on “Start Fundraising” button at the top of the page.
2. Select the Walkathon event option corresponding to your child's grade level
3. You will have the ability to fully customize your child's page
* If you set up an account last year, you can use that same account login again using that email address, but you cannot modify your old page, as this is a new event (Firstgiving will email you your password if you forgot). You will need to set up a new fundraising page. You can set up multiple children's fundraising pages using the same email address - just be sure to select the event with the correct grade level listed behind it.
** If you want to create one family fundraising page for multiple children - please select the Cushing Walkathon - Family Page event option.
