The Office of Letters and Light hosts hands-on writing events that spark
a lifelong love of writing and language arts in kids and teens, and give
adults the inspiration and instruction they need to achieve their
creative potential. For Script Frenzy and the Script Frenzy Young
Writers Program, participants create stage plays, screenplays, and TV
shows in April. The fiction-oriented National Novel Writing Month and
companion Young Writers Program take place in November, challenging
participants to write a novel in thirty days. In 2007, over 118,000
people found their voices and told their stories as part of Office of
Letters and Light events.

| My personal message: |
National Novel Writing Month is held every November and challenges writers around the world to start and finish a 50,000 word novel in only 30 days.
It can be done, it has been done ... this will be my seventh novel.
But this is the first time I've asked you for help in keeping the program growing. Yes, I work for NaNoWriMo, because I'm passionate about helping people to get that novel out of their head and onto the page.
It's not just about writing, it's about being fearless and rejecting the idea that we have to push our dreams off until we have more time. NaNoWriMo shows ordinary people that they're capable of extraordinary things even within the confines of their regular life.
NaNoWriMo is sponsoring their first ever Write-a-Thon where writers will gather for one evening and type their little fingers off. I'm planning to be there, but I need to make my fundraising goal in order to be guaranteed a seat.
Read more about the Write-a-Thon here.
