Welcome! If you’ve found your way here, this is your chance to support my attempt to drive myself insane for charity.
Every year I participate in NaNoWriMo, the global challenge for aspiring novelists to produce a 50,000-word novel in thirty days. Last year I actually managed it. This year I’ve decided to do it again, but I’m upping the ante, and I’m going to aim for 100,000 words by the end of November. In order to justify this act of supreme idiocy, I’m asking anyone and everyone who can to sponsor me to meet this goal, and everything I raise will be donated to United Cerebral Palsey.
Some years ago my cousin Jason was born, and he contracted bacterial meningitis just hours after his birth. He survived the infection, but at terrible cost to his brain, and was severely disabled for the remainder of his short life. UCP helped my aunt and her family to give Jason the care he needed, thanks to which he lived and gave joy to our family for far longer than anyone expected. Jason died not long ago, and in his memory I’m hoping to raise money so that UCP can continue helping children like him.
Please give generously – in return I promise to keep you all amused with regular reports on my word count, plot woes, and desire to throw myself off the nearest cliff. The challenge starts at midnight on the first of November. See you on the other side!
