Hi All,
You know how much I love da knitting......well now you can "enable" my habit for a good cause....and no one will have to suffer a badly fitted sweater or scarf as a result! Everyone wins!
I work a great deal with this shelter and would love the opportunity to do what I can, with your help, to ensure it can keep it's doors open... even through this current economic crisis!
I invite you to help me raise money and awareness for the Pine Street Inn of Boston, New England's largest resource for homeless men and women, by pledging to the 2nd Annual Pine Street Inn Knit-A-Thon. Though best known for its emergency shelters, Pine Street became one of the first organizations to implement supportive housing for homeless individuals. Today, Pine Street now has close to 500 residents living in 30 houses and sites throughout Boston and Brookline. They anticipate adding another 151 units in the development pipeline.
Many Boston area knitters and I will join together Sunday, November 9th to assemble our 9 x 9 inch pre-knitted squares into blankets, which will be presented to the tenants of the Pine Street Inn residences. I anticipate knitting at least 100-150 squares for the event. I ask that you donate on a per square basis; i.e. 150 squares x $5.00 = $750.00 or feel free to make the donation of your choice. If you want to donate from outside the US, please contact me to discuss other options or send your donation directly to Pine Street, with a note reflecting that its for the Knit-A-Thon!
Thank you in advance for your help and I invite you to visit the Pine Street Inn's website at www.pinestreetinn.org for more information (especially if you want to join me and my needles on the day!)
Much Love,
Dani xx
