Dearest friends and family:
In April 2009, I am hoping to go on a medical trip to Cape Town, South Africa with an organization called Child Family Health International. As you may know, that region of the world has many serious public health discrepancies. CFHI, among other organizations like it, seeks to improve medical care in such regions. The program is four weeks long and will consist of 40+ hours a week of clinical care in Victoria Hospital, as well as in other off-site clinics. The fee for the program is $2199, which covers room and board with a local family, as well as food and transportation while I am there.
CFHI is a non-profit organization based out of California. They have partners in Bolivia, Ecuador, India, Mexico, and South Africa, all of whom directly benefit from program fees and volunteers brought into these communities. For more information on CFHI you can please visit their website at CFHI.org.
As a medical student I have the opportunity to help, even if in a very small way, people of this part of the world. I am thrilled and honored that I have the privilage to practice medicine in other parts of the world and hopefully to make a difference.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Sincerely,
Dara Freeman, 4th year medical student
