DAVE, SAMANTHA AND KADZO'S

             CHICAGO  MARATHON DREAM!!!

 I want to thank you for visiting my fundraising page. 

My name is Dave Pehrson, and I live in Bountiful, Utah.  I work in the automobile sales department for Jerry Seiner GMC.  I have been in sales most of my life,  but this is my first opportunity to sell my dreams to people all over the world.  I guess this will test the cause as well as my sales skills. 

Last year through our church and World Vision, my daughter Samantha and I adopted a small child who lives in Kenga, Africa.  Her name is Kadzo Safari.  She is only 4 years old.  In that short amount of time we have seen many changes in Kadzos life.  She is getting healthy, playing with all her friends, going to school and to church.   Still, her village is in great need of financial assistance.   We have been so blessed in our lives, and we wanted to share our blessings with others.  Well, the story continues....2 months ago our church ( South Mountain Community Church ) let us know that World Vision was sponsoring the Chicago Marathon.  My daughter Samantha is a very smart little girl ( just turned 10 ). She quickly put 2 & 2 together and said, " Daddy, wouldn't that help my sister Kadzo?"  She asked me if I was going to run for my daughter.  I have to say it was a NO BRAINER; of course, I said yes!!

I will be 46 when I run this marathon.  I have a great woman in my life whom I love very much.  I have 4 wonderful daughters, 5 new sons when I marry, 2 sons-in-law, and 4 of the most beautiful grandchildren in the world.  I have never ran a marathon. In fact, I have not ran any distance since I was in the Marine Corps over 25 years ago.  In high school I ran track-100 yard dash, 220,  and the 440 relay.  Wow, that sure was a long time ago.  Since then I have had surgery on  my  knee to repair my ACL.  I also suffer from a disc injury in my neck that I had surgery on two years ago and await another surgury after the marathon.  To say the least, I am not in the best shape of my life. LOL.  I know that the only way I can run this marathon is with a lot of support from family, friends, and of course, God by my side.  I am commited to do this for the children in Africa and for God's glory.  God gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  I know I could never do this just for me.  If God is for us who can be against us?  

I promise to God, my family, my friends, my church, and to you my supporter,  I will not let you down.  The funds raised for this charity will not solve the problem in Africa but will impact many childrens lifes.  I will finish this marathon for all of us.
