This is a non-profit I work closely with that provides free school supplies to needy children across the country.
Here is a letter from a parent of some elementary school children. Clearly it demonstartes the need and is asking for the type of help Kids In Need can provide with your support.
Hi, My questions is, how can our school become involved with the Kids In Need Foundation? Our school is in desperate need of school supplies for our children to succeed. We are in an Academic Emergency, because our children lack the basic needs to succeed in class (pens, pencils, crayons, art supplies, etc.).
I have 3 children attending this school, and spend much of my time as a volunteer. We all want to have Hope our kids will flourish and be given the chance to grow, but without the right tools we feel our kids are suffering. I see that many parents cannot afford these much needed supplies. They look for help, but are many times unsuccessful. This often leads to our kids skipping school, acting out in class, low self-esteem and getting into trouble, all because they are embarrassed or ashamed and fear being picked on for not having what the other kids have.
If we can change one student at a time, one family at a time, one school at a time our test scores will get better and our school will begin to get proper funds needed for new books, computers, and classroom supplies. This will result in graduation rates getting higher with more children getting the chance to go on to college and becoming successful adults.
For every dollar you donate, $25 worth of free school supplies is procured by Kids In Need. Please be as generous as possible. Your gift today will make a huge difference in the next semester for thousands of boys and girls who arrive at school well stocked with intelligence but without the tools they need to do their jobs!
