My Walk-the-Walk Goal
On November 1st, I am going to walk one mile to raise money for beating-myeloma.org. Although walking is a difficult for me, I think it is important for me to keep working at it, and I am determined to do something to inspire others to action.
How I am Talking-the-Talk
I believe that everyone has a right to a full spectrum of information about managing their health. I am going to "talk the talk" by sharing with you some information about curcumin, a supplement I think everyone will be interested in. For more information visit: beating-myeloma.org/subject/curcumin.
Why I founded the Galen Foundation and beating-myeloma.org
After I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 1993 I underwent aggressive chemotherapy and radiation. When my cancer returned for the second time in two years, my oncologist told me nothing more could be done for me. I’m alive today because I used the internet and social networking to gather information and connect with other survivors – I learned about the treatments and lifestyle changes that saved my life.
In 2004 I chose to use my experience to start a different kind of Foundation. The Galen Foundation and its most importantant program, beating-myeloma.org, help those who battle multiple myeloma to manage their health by providing information and opportunities to interact with others. Our goal is to help people “talk-the-talk” and “walk-the-walk.”
That's why I named this event the Talk-the-Talk, Walk-the-Walkathon. It's a virtual walkathon because people from all over the country and the world can participate by taking control, and setting their own goals.
