WE ARE ALMOST TO OUR GOAL!
Thanks for visiting the Hoops of Hope at Hope Academy fundraising page.
Over 400 students gave an hour of their school day recently shooting free-throws in honor of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. What an AWESOME Day!!! Our event was held for June 3, 2008 from 9:30AM - 3:30PM. We even had preschool hoops for the Pre-K Classes! Together, we shot more than 6,000 free-throws! EVERYONE had FUN! Two TV Stations reported on the event during the evening news with video of our students and Theresa Churchill wrote a fabulous article in the Herald & Review. Hope Academy is a public K-8 Elementary School located in Decatur, IL. To learn more about Hope Academy visit http://www.dps61.org/hope/site/default.asp As a One Church One School partner with Hope Academy, Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Youth Ministry hosted the event with Hope students. Twenty volunteers helped rebound baskets and encourage the students. We were TIRED at the end of the day! Thanks to our volunteers and the staff of Hope Academy for making our event a HUGE success! REMEMBER: CENTRAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH HAS PLEDGED TO MATCH ALL MONEY RAISED UP TO $4,500.00
Over the past four short years, Hoops of Hope participants have raised over $200,000. The money raised by participants has gone to sponsor over 100 orphans, build a high school in Twatchiyanda, Zambia, and last year, build a medical lab and counseling center in Sinazongwe, Zambia.
Hoops of Hope at Hope Academy will help raise money for a second medical lab and counseling center in Zambia. These laboratories provide quick and effective HIV/AIDS testing, allowing those who are ill to quickly begin drug therapy and other treatments. This helps prolong the lives of moms and dads and helps keep children from becoming orphans.
We need YOUR support! Will you support us by making a tax deductible donation on this webpage? Donation on this webpage is simple and totally secure. Hoops of Hope uses 100% of ALL money raised through fundraising webpages to help orphan children. If you would like more information about Hoops of Hope or would also like to join the free throw shooting marathon, you can visit their website at www.hoopsofhope.org
Thanks for your Support!
