Thank you for visiting our DSI fundraising page!
This spring Michael Ritter is replicating the Jolivert Safe Water for Families (JSWF) project located in Jolivert, Haiti. The JSWF is a production site for Gadyen Dlo, or “Water Guardian.” Gadyen Dlo is a sodium hypochlorite liquid solution used to treat water to make it suitable for drinking (potable). It is sold in 8oz. bottles labeled with an explanation of how to use the product safely. It’s amazing but just one capful treats 5 gallons of water. This means that a family of 5 can use one bottle for about 40 days! The best part is that Gadyen Dlo is affordable for even the poorest rural families at just 14 cents per bottle. The Jolivert product site is set to be sustainable within the next four years which means it will need no additional outside funds or resources. Deep Springs truly believes this is part of the solution to providing safe drinking water for all of rural Haiti.
Deep Springs is replicating this sustainable solution to water purification in the southern city of Les Cayes where we have begun our school program. Ritter has started the process of laying the groundwork for replication and will begin production early next year. This is where you come in. Deep Springs will need $25,000 over the next five years for the Les Cayes location to be started, facilitated, and reach sustainability.
At this time we are seeking $10,000 for initial start-up costs and facilitation for the first year. Deep Springs is aiming to reach this mark by June 15th.
