The money raised by DiSiata and Manning will benefit Casa Myrna's programs for victims of domestic violence.

Hingham residents Jinnie DiSiata and Timothy Manning will be running the 110th Boston Marathon on behalf of Casa Myrna Vazquez, New England's most comprehensive provider of shelter and services to battered women and their children. Founded in Boston's South End nearly 30 years ago, Casa Myrna is one of 18 charities selected by the Boston Athletic Association to field a team in its Charity Program. Participating runners are not required to have a qualifying time to enter the race, but must raise a minimum of $2,500 for their sponsoring charity.

The money raised by DiSiata and Manning will benefit Casa Myrna's programs for victims of domestic violence. They include five residential facilities that shelter up to 34 women and 61 children every night for periods ranging from 90 days to 18 months; a statewide domestic violence hotline SafeLink, 1-877-785-2020; and a variety of shelter and community-based initiatives combining advocacy, education, and prevention.

During the agency's most recently completed program year, 352 women and children made their home at Casa Myrna. Community education and outreach initiatives reached more than 1200 adults and teens including over 300 teens who attended dating violence prevention workshops, and 445 women received pro bono legal assistance from the agency's Legal Advocacy Program. SafeLink answered more than 18,000 calls seeking assistance.
