As a way of showing appreciation for the life of Dick Jeffrey, former Director of Maitreya Education Project, Principal of Maitreya Universal Education School and founding Chair of the Board of Essential Education, we invite you to help us buy books and other resources for the library named in his memory.

Doug Allen, the current School Principal, writes: “A library is an indispensable element of every school, and the Maitreya School is no different. In fact, a library is probably more critical here as we lack access to other sources of information such as electronic and visual media that are commonplace in schools in developed countries.

“Our students love books but we have an inadequate collection.  We wish to provide them with story books, picture books, reference books, and novels, in both Hindi and English, in part to supplement their academic work but mostly to develop their love for reading and to promote literacy.  I know Dick would be delighted to see the library improved in his memory and to see the students of Maitreya Universal Education School enjoying and growing through reading.”
